West Fargo man charged with robbery attempt at gas station
WEST FARGO – A 23-year-old man is accused of pulling a knife on another man and trying to steal his car last month at a gas station here.
Ryan James Love of West Fargo is charged in Cass County District Court with robbery and theft, both felonies. A warrant for his arrest was issued Thursday.
About 12:30 a.m. Jan. 10, West Fargo police were dispatched to the Holiday gas station, 1210 13th Ave. E. When police arrived, the victim reported that a man he didn't know approached him by his car, displayed a folding knife with a 4½- to 5½-inch blade and demanded his car keys, according to court papers.
The victim did not relinquish his keys and instead ran into the gas station convenience store, and the knife-wielding man ran away. Using surveillance video, police identified the would-be robber as Love, court papers said.
Moorhead police arrested Love the next day after he allegedly shoplifted from a store, crashed into several vehicles and injured a woman while fleeing in a stolen vehicle. He was being held Thursday at the Clay County Jail on charges related to that incident.
The Cass County theft charge against Love stems from him allegedly stealing a vehicle on Jan. 9, court papers state. North Dakota court records did not list an attorney for Love.
