United Way school supply drive celebrates milestone

METRO—The United Way is kicking off its 20th annual school supply drive.

The organization has a goal of 6,000 backpacks this year.

Businesses around the F-M are collecting donations.

They'll be delivered to the FargoDome July 27th.

The United Way is looking for 500 volunteers to help with the drive.

Last year, 5,800 students got backpacks, in 65 schools in Cass and Clay Counties.

"We hear from the mom's and they have tears in their eyes and they just tell us, 'Thank you so much. This has made the difference for my little girl or little boy.' That to me is what this is all about." said CEO of United Way of Cass-Clay Kristi Huber

United Way will hand out the backpacks on August 4th and 7th.
