103 people become US citizens in Moorhead
MOORHEAD -- 103 people are new U.S. citizens after a swearing-in ceremony.
The new citizens originate from 34 different countries, but each one can
now call the USA home.
Friends and family watched as the 103 took their oaths.
The road to citizenship is a long one.
It includes extensive paperwork, a series of interviews, and a tough exam.
But it also comes with many new rights and privileges.
"Probably the travel opportunities. Citizenship is pretty important for traveling like with the passport, so I'm pretty excited about that," said John Lauron, a new citizen, about what he's most excited for.
Lauron says he was born in the Middle East but grew up in the Philippines.
The new citizens' new rights also include voting and running for elected office.
