FARGO — Following the lunch break, jurors in the trial of William Hoehn, in which he’s accused of conspiring with his former girlfriend Brooke Crews to murder Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind, heard testimony from two witnesses called by prosecutors. The first was Brandon McCollum, a forensic examiner with the FBI’s DNA Casework Unit in Quantico, Va.
FARGO — Jurors were still watching a video of William Hoehn’s second interview with police as the third day of his trial, in which he’s accused of conspiring to murder Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind, came to a close. During the interview on Aug. 24, 2017, police learned that the baby abducted from LaFontaine-Greywind’s womb was in his apartment, which he shared with his then girlfriend Brooke Crews, when police conducted initial searches of the apartment.
FARGO — Five witnesses took the stand Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the trial of William Hoehn, including Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind’s parents. Norberta and Joe Greywind testified to the events of Aug. 19, 2017, as well as to the days that followed.
FARGO — A 14-person jury of eight women and six men has been selected to finish Day 1 of William Hoehn’s trial. Opening statements will start about 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19.
MOORHEAD — A 47-year-old woman arrested over the weekend at a restaurant here spit on two police officers and suffered an injury to her eye as one of them restrained her, authorities said. Jennifer Joan Thomas, of Fargo, faces two felony charges: fourth-degree assault on a peace officer and threats of violence. She’s also charged with a gross misdemeanor count of carrying a BB gun in a public place.
FARGO — Alan J. Bear, the 22-year-old man arrested Saturday, Sept. 8 for killing another man, is expected to be released Monday, Sept. 10, after a police investigation showed he acted in self-defense during an attempted robbery, Fargo police said during a press conference held Monday morning. Two other individuals, Robert Peightal and Jordan Plouffe, will instead be charged on counts of conspiracy to commit robbery and terrorizing, according to Cass County State’s Attorney Birch Burdick.
FARGO — A crowd of military members and their guests greeted Air Force One, carrying President Donald Trump, when it landed at the North Dakota Air National Guard base at Fargo's Hector International Airport about 11:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 7. Shortly after arriving, Trump left the airport for an appearance at a campaign fundraiser for Rep. Kevin Cramer at the Delta Hotels by Marriott, 1635 42nd St. S., in Fargo.
WEST FARGO — A man who faced fleeing and drug charges following a January police pursuit in West Fargo pleaded guilty to those charges in Cass County District Court on Monday, Aug. 27. David Schiebe, 42, pleaded guilty to charges of possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a controlled substance; reckless endangerment; possession of stolen property, fleeing a peace officer and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
FARGO — A new trial date has been set in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents of Andrew Sadek, an undercover drug informant who was found dead in the Red River in 2014. The suit filed by John and Tammy Sadek against Richland County and Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Weber came in the wake of Sadek’s death in 2014 when he was found in the Red River with a gunshot wound to his head and a backpack filled with rocks tied around his waist.
WEST FARGO — A change of plea hearing has been set for a former West Fargo middle school teacher facing charges for sharing illicit videos with students and allegedly having sexual contact with two students. Court documents filed Tuesday, Aug. 21, show Shannon Moser is to appear in Cass County District Court at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 27, for a change of plea hearing.
